Peebles Evelyn Louise Peebles, age 80, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Thursday morning, June 12, 2008 at her home. The daughter of Albert and Greta (Swigart) Pierson, she was born October 23, 1927 in Mirable, Mo. On August 29, 1949 at Texarkana, AR, she was married to Charles E. Peebles, who preceded her in death November 9, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Diane Lynn Headlee, and a sister, Wanda Faye Meier. Survivors include eight children, Katherine Duncan, Sandy Simmons, Frank Peebles, Scott Peebles, Kevin Peebles and John Peebles, all of Excelsior Springs, Chuck Peebles, Metropolis, Ill., and Sherry Patterson, Eagan, MN; two sisters, six brothers, 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Peebles moved from Missouri City, Mo., to Excelsior Springs in 1943 and had resided here most of her life. She was a member of the 8 & 40 Club of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, cooking, gardening and tending her flowers. A homemaker, her family was her life and joy and she will be missed by her family. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Woodland Cemetery near Liberty, Mo. It was her wish to be cremated and the ashes of her late husband, Charles, will be included in the committal service. The family has suggested memorials to Liberty Hospice.
