Woods Norma Gene Woods, 83, of Richmond, formerly of Orrick and Independence, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Mo. Born August 12, 1924 in Portland, Ind., she was the daughter of Elmer and Opal Bisel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Samuel E. Norris, Jr. Surviving are a grandson, Quentin Norris, Richmond, and two sisters, Ruth Shockney, Farmland, Ind., and Jeane Cassel, Portland, Ind. Norma was raised in Indiana where she attended public schools. She came to Independence at the age of 18 and worked as a waitress at Waid's. She was a factory seamstress for many years and also a landlord with rental properties in Independence. She enjoyed working on her hobby farm, fishing, cooking and frogging. She was of the Mormon faith. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Cravens Cemetery near Camden, Mo. There will be no public visitation.
