Pauline (Mrs. Mac) McCreery
Pauline (Thornton) McCreery of Excelsior Springs, Mo., formerly of Boonville, Mo., went to be with her Lord Saturday, June 7, 2008. She would have turned 101 on Tuesday June 10, 2008. Born June 10, 1907 in Huntsdale, Mo., in Boone County, she was the daughter of Allen Vawter and Hattie Elizabeth (Smith) Thornton. On December 1, 1923 in Jefferson City, Mo., she was united in marriage to Ezra Murl McCreery who preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by two sons, P. Beuford McCreery, Loyd McCreery, two brothers, Benny Thornton and Conrad Thornton. She is survived by one daughter, Elsa Merline Sharp, Liberty, Mo.; one son, Robert L. McCreery, of the home; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild, several nieces and one nephew. Mrs. McCreery was reared in Huntsdale and graduated from the Huntsdale High School. At the time of her death she was the only living member of the Class of 1923. After her marriage she was a homemaker and later during WWII she worked for the MKT Railroad. She was manager of the Ranger Court Motel in Excelsior Springs, moving here in 1955. She then owned and operated the PG Store for a number of years until her retirement. Pauline was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boonville for over 70 years and the Rebekah Lodge. She was a past member of the Business and Professional Women of Excelsior Springs. She loved her family, baking pies, crocheting and a loyal fan of the Kansas City Royals. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, June 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 9 until 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

I loved and will miss her stories and good sense of humor she always showed to me and my family. We thought of her as our friend and hope that she enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed her.
